Fun Stuff I Clicked on This Week
Everything from Pantone’s coral reef campaign, my favourite podcast of the week to Instagram removing Likes, here are the fun things I read, watched or listened to this week that could make for some interesting dinner party convo. You’re welcome. Feel free to share with friends or fellow office procrastinators.
Rumour has it: Instagram might take away Likes
My initial reaction (albeit a selfish one) was ‘how the hell will I quantify how good my post actually was?” Likes have been a way of gauging whether people care about your content (or you), which is a rather depressing, Black Mirror-esque way of looking at it. Upon reflection of how I personally engage on IG, there are very few posts I actually give a Like to. Most of the time I Save it or make a ‘mental like’ and scroll on. I think that’s why I find posting on IG Stories so much more liberating.
To conclude: Would I LIKE this decision? Yes, I’d double tap that.

Adobe and Pantone are working to save coral reefs in a new campaign with the Ocean Agency
Did you know? Coral reefs may be full of vibrant colours, but if they’re too vivid, it can spell trouble. A last cry for help.
Pantone have used this insight to create a bright and beautiful colour palette to bring heightened awareness to the effects of climate change on our reefs. Pantone are encouraging the creative community to use the Glowing, Glowing, Gone colours in designs or products to help bolster awareness for coral reef conservation. Thanks Pantone!
How to Fail with Elizabeth Day S3, Ep4 is hands down my fave podcast of the week
One of my dearest friends recommended this podcast to me and I’m so glad she did. Much needed when you’re a newly aspiring freelancer. The one with Deborah Frances-White is all sorts of wonderful. You might know her from her own podcast The Guilty Feminist. This episode is funny, enlightening and sincere. Best enjoyed with some lunchtime sunshine in the park.
Chernobyl’s haunting score was made with nuclear power plant field recordings
Don’t you love it when you get a new found appreciation for something that hadn’t even crossed your mind?
Hearing the mighty talented Hildur Guðnadóttir speak about how she recorded and created the soundtrack to the best rated series to date using only the sounds of an actual nuclear power plant is nothing less than powerful. As in, she didn’t even bang on the steel pipes – she simply recorded the deathly silence within the building. Mind blowing. I want to go back and watch the whole series again keeping this in mind. Although, I’m not sure my little heart could handle it twice over.
@90sanxiety – Your new guilty pleasure Instagram page
This page first made its way onto my personal radar through my sister, but last week it was celebrated on The High Low, another one of my fave podcasts. The @90sanxiety bio reads: “An acute appreciation of elegance, sophistication and a distinctive appearance.” I must say there is something about seeing a photo of Princess Di emerge from a London gym in her tighty whities and oversized hoodie that puts a smile on my face.
Thanks for reading the first of my weekly (if my self discipline allows) “Fun stuff I clicked on this week” series. I hope it left you a tiny bit more inspired or entertained. Please do share any fun stuff you’ve clicked on in the comment section below for me to share in upcoming posts.
All my love!
